OfWealth by Rob Marstrand is a newsletter for private investors who want to learn more about investing, how to go about it, and with analyses and tracking of selected stocks and funds. The aim is to inform people about this complex subject in plain language, avoiding jargon where possible.

Why subscribe?

I (Rob) have three decades of experience in the worlds of finance and investing, split roughly equally between a huge investment bank and wealth manager (UBS) and investment newsletters. As such, I’ve experienced both the very best and worst of what those sectors provide to their customers.

Also, given my past career, I’ve had the benefit of a top-class financial training and loads of experience putting it into practice.

These days, first and foremost, I’m a private investor - just like my readers. That’s how I approach what I write.

Over time, I’ve worked out what I believe is most likely to work consistently for private investors. Just as importantly, I’ve worked out many things to avoid - including most of the latest fads that brokers, asset managers and investment newsletters try to sell.

What you will get

Paid subscribers will receive the following:

  • Analyses of stocks and funds, and tracking of post-analysis performance. This will include stocks from the huge US market, the UK and sometimes further afield.

  • Chapters from an investment book that I'm writing, with the working title of "Getting a Better Class of Enemy - Money, Markets and Manias". The plan is to release at least one chapter per month.

  • Commentary on general investment topics including investment strategy, market developments, investor psychology, portfolio construction, valuation and so forth.

  • Periodic reviews and updates of the portfolio that I recommended in my previous role, at the publication UK Independent Wealth (UKIW). This is something that many readers have requested, and also something that I want to see through.

  • Videos from time to time, and other things that I may add.

Free subscribers will receive selected articles on general investment topics.

New editions of the newsletter will go directly to your inbox, so you don’t have to worry about missing anything.

Summary

OfWealth is first and foremost about patient investing. It’s not about speculation or gambling.

I want to share what I’ve learned along the way with others, not least since most people haven’t had the benefit of working in the investment industry. The more you know about how that industry works, the better armed you’ll be to use that knowledge to your advantage, instead of the industry taking advantage of you.

I’m a one-man-band, working independently. This means all the ideas, opinions and analysis are my own and unfiltered by editors or corporate committees. I’ll always do my best to provide original insights for subscribers.

Finance and investing are complex areas, but they’re incredibly important for anyone who wants to preserve and grow their wealth - be it a pension account or other investment portfolio.

OfWealth’s aim is to provide readers with insights and ideas, and to help them better understand the complex world of finance.

With this in mind, I’ll always avoid jargon if possible, but explain it when it’s unavoidable.

Three decades of finance experience, split roughly equally between a huge investment bank (UBS) and investment newsletters. My niche bank strategy role meant working with top management, giving me rare insights into workings of large corporations.
